Transparent or matt table foil?

You buy a new table or have another surface that you like and use often? Then you should protect your favourite piece! Only which protection is the right one? Transparent or matt table foil? We explain the differences and what you should pay attention to!

Transparent

The transparent film is suitable for all surfaces made of wood or a matt structure. The table remains completely visible through the foil, but is perfectly protected. The 2mm thick foil not only protects against stains and falling glass, but also against knocks and scratches. The foil is simply laid on the table and should be taken off every 3-4 weeks for a day on oiled tables, so that the wood can “breathe”.

IMPORTANT: With high gloss surfaces, glass tables or lacquered tables, the high gloss version is not well suited because air bubbles form and you can hardly get them out.

Matt-finished

For tables and surfaces with a high-gloss look, the matt foil is the right choice. Due to the fine matt structure, the film lies nicely on top and does not form air bubbles between the table or surface and the foil. Despite the matte structure, you can see through the surface and easily identify the grain or colour of the table.

In contrast to the high gloss foil, the matt version can also be used for normal wooden tables, as there are no negative limitations. The foil behaves the same on all surfaces.

Cleaning

Whether transparent or matt film, the cleaning is done with a damp cloth, with a little mild detergent you can easily get rid of even the most stubborn grease stains. You don’t have to pay attention to anything else. For stubborn stains from tomato sauce or marks from plates or dishes, you can simply lay the foil in the sun. The beta-carotene, which causes the orange colour, is bleached out by the sun and the warmth of the sun expands the material again and the pressure marks disappear.

Cutting

When you order the foil please take the actual measurements of your table. In the production we add a little bit of length depending on the foil and the size, because the foil is on a roll in our factory and only “relaxes” on your table and the material shrinks or expands to the desired size. So please have a little patience and allow 1-2 weeks for working. If the size still doesn’t fit you can contact our support at any time, we will be happy to help you.
